BGI Consulting carried out an evaluation of the measure for development of regional economic growth centres

BGI Consulting carried out the evaluation of the measure “Development of regional economic growth centres”, implemented in the framework of 2007 – 2013 Cohesion Promotion operational programme. The purpose of the evaluation was to accelerate the absorption of the funding and the results of the measure and to evaluate potential of the similar measure in the period 2014 – 2020.

Analysis of the implementation of the measure and evaluation of probability to achieve the results were performed. Also, problems and challenges, having negative effects during the implementation of the measure, have been identified, as well as potential of the measure in the regional policy context. Furthermore, the analysis of continuity and perspective of similar measure in the period 2014 – 2020 had been provided in the evaluation report.

BGI Consulting representatives presented the results of the evaluation during the conference, held on June 26. The representatives of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Alytus, Utena and Marijampole regional growth centres expressed their insights as well. During the conference, progress of the implementation of the measure was discussed, also, practical examples, cases and perspectives of the funding for urban development in the period 2014 – 2020 were presented.

Among the participants of the conference were representatives of Ministry of Interior and other ministries, representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, municipalities of the larger cities and regional growth centres, as well as representatives of other concerned institutions and social and economical partners.
