2014 04 11
BGI Consulting provides consultancy services to the Programming Task Forces, comprised of the representatives from the European Union (EU) Member States and neighbouring countries, responsible for the preparation of two cross-border cooperation programmes for the 2014-2020 financial period: Lithuania-Poland, financed underthe European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) objective, and Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus, financed under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI).
The main objective of the cross-border cooperation is to reduce the negative effects of borders among states (administrative, legal and physical barriers), jointly tackle common problems and exploit untapped potential of the region. Cooperation among states is stimulated by joint planning and management of the programmes, as well as joint preparation and implementation of projects. ENI Cross-border cooperation programmes (such as Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus) are aimed at fostering close relations with the neighbouring countries by jointly establishing an area of prosperity and good neighbourliness, based on cooperation. ETC Cross-border cooperation programmes (such as Lithuania-Poland) are aimed at reducing disparities between regions of the EU, reinforcing cohesion and encouraging optimal economic development.
BGI Consulting contributes to the preparation of the above mentioned programmes by conducting such activities, as preparation of socio-economic analysis of the area, provision of proposals for the strategy and indicators of the programmes, preparation of the programme documents, etc.
