The European Commission approved Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus and Lithuania-Poland cross-border cooperation programmes for 2014-2020

2016 01 20
In December 2015 the European Commission approved Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus and Lithuania-Poland cross-border cooperation programmes for the 2014-2020 programming period. BGI Consulting experts participated in their preparation by conducting socio-economic analysis of the programme areas, consulting the Programming Task Force of both programmes regarding strategy and indicators of the programmes, as well as drafting the programme documents.

The main objective of the cross-border cooperation is to reduce the negative effects of borders among states (administrative, legal and physical barriers), jointly tackle common problems and exploit untapped potential of the region. Cooperation among states is stimulated by joint planning and management of the programmes, as well as joint preparation and implementation of projects.

Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) cross-border cooperation (CBC) Programme is aimed at fostering close relations with the neighbouring countries by jointly establishing an area of prosperity and good neighbourliness, based on cooperation. The document of the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus ENI CBC Programme 2014-2020 is available online.

Lithuania-Poland European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) cross-border cooperation (CBC) Programme is aimed at reducing disparities between regions of the EU, reinforcing cohesion and encouraging optimal economic development. The document of the Lithuania-Poland Interreg V-A Programme is available online.

The project was commissioned by the Public Institution Joint Technical Secretariat.
